How To Use YouTube To Grow Your Nutrition Business Online
The following is a guest post from Morgan KG of Morgankg.com
You are a wellness entrepreneur with some pretty amazing insights to share with the world. But how do you get your message across in a visual way that will genuinely engage your audience? There are many options out there for communicating with your audience, but the one that stands out as being the most effective is video.
As a video and marketing strategist, I have learned how important it is to show up on video for your audience, so they can really get to know, like and trust you. Video is effective because it is authentic. It provides entrepreneurs with the ability to authentically connect with - and nurture - their audiences. Just think about it: Wouldn’t you rather buy from someone that you’ve seen and built a relationship with vs. from someone that you’ve never interacted with at all?
Today I’m going to walk you through my hacks for creating an engaging YouTube video that will make a true difference in your wellness business! Alright, let’s do this.
The first step for creating an engaging YouTube video is centered around topic selection. Take a few minutes and research the topics that would be truly interesting for your audience.
What are some hot topics in wellness? Check out this link for 2018 trends.
Do some research on wellness YouTubers - what videos are already being published on YouTube? Which videos are doing well?
Survey your audience and ask them what they would like to see to get the most direct answer!
For those who do not have a large audience, one way to find topic ideas is to join different Facebook groups that have a similar target audience to your business. Pay attention to common questions and themes. Also, be sure to read the rules for each group that you join, but you may be able to directly ask folks in the group about the videos that they would like to watch!
Do a search on YouTube for your topic to determine how it will perform.
The goal is to publish content that is popular and will be searched for, but not so popular that there are already 2,000 videos with the same topic. The goal is to get your video listed on the front page of the YouTube search.
Be sure to add keywords onto your video and to complete the description for search engine optimization. To find great keywords, you would want to use a keyword planner, like this one, to generate the best possible tags for your YouTube video. You can also type in your tag ideas into the YouTube search, as this will populate additional ideas for you to use. Be sure to max out the tags that you can use for your videos to increase the chances that your video will be found! See my examples of keywords to use at the bottom of this blogpost.
MY YOUTUBE KEYWORD EXAMPLES:

3. Lighting & audio are two very important factors when creating YouTube videos unless you are creating a vlog where lighting and audio can’t really be controlled.
Try to use natural light when filming videos. You can also invest in a ring light which is a great light for YouTubers. Check out this ring light.
You can use the audio that comes with your camera or invest in a shotgun mic if you plan to face the camera and do a lot of speaking. Check out this shotgun mic.
4. If you have jitters about talking to the camera, this is totally normal! There are a couple of things that you can do to overcome this and be your BEST self on camera.
Practice beforehand if you need to - you can bullet out the main topics that you want to cover so that you stay on track.
If you get distracted when looking at the camera lens, try looking straight past the lens.
Try framing the video as if you are having a conversation with a friend. This will also help you to appear more genuine, which is appealing to any audience.
One of the best ways to be engaging is to be yourself! Talk how you actually talk, crack jokes if you do that, and just be real. While it is important for your videos to attract your audience, it is also important for you to have fun!
Remember that at the end of the day, the videos that you create should add some type of value to your audience. Let your passion for wellness and helping others motivate you to create the best videos possible.
